ESL Pro League Season 10 Finals Betting Predictions

Today we are going to take a look at the ESL Pro League Season 10 Finals. This is the first stage of the major, the top 8 teams are going to advance to the next stage. For the first round we have the following matches.

Navi vs Tyloo

One of the first matches of the tournament is going to be Navi vs Tyloo. While we haven’t seen a lot from Navi lately, what we saw were some up and down performances. After dropping out with 2 losses at Starladder at the end of October, Navi looked better at BLAST Copenhagen where they beat Liquid, NiP and draws to Astralis and C9.

Tyloo come off a solid showing at the Asia championship, where they reached the semis and looked a lot better compared to recent months. However Tyloo could have easily reached the finals, but choked a 14-7 lead on map 2 vs Mousesports and also lost the third map narrowly with 14-16.

Looking at the match the pressure will certainly be on Navi as they have yet to show that their last roster change with removing Zeus and adding Guardian was worth it. We think that this might be a match where Tyloo could catch Navi off guard with their aggressive approach and Navi historically starting slow into tournaments, as well as lacking match practice. We recommend taking Tyloo at odds of 3 or better.

Faze vs MIBR

With FaZe vs mibr we have another interesting matchup at our hands:

After a huge decline down to World Ranking place 20 FaZe seem to have found a way to utilize their players potential and actually achieve some decent results like reaching the finals of IEM Beijing.

Mibr on the other hand still seems to struggle hard versus decent opposition and only have been able to win by kng hardcarrying his team.

Most likely maps for this best-of-one are inferno, mirage or dust2 from which only mirage making a bet on mibr somewhat justifiable at 2.4 odds and up. If you want to bet before the veto you will most likely need at least 2.8 odds.

Heroic vs 100Thieves

Heroic come into this tournament with a disappointing performance at Dreamhack Winter, posting losses with SJ and Cr4zy. They were favored in both matches, yet failed to win any of them. The most surprising loss is versus SJ were they were favored massively, being priced below 1.2 on most betting sites. Heroic did manage to win Dreamhack Atlanta, but they were the favorites coming into that tournament as the team attending were not very good. Their recent performance makes us doubt their form coming into this event, they do however have the potential to post a few upsets.

100Thieves on the other hand, has been impressing us a lot. Since June, they have steadily been rising in the ranks and even making it far into some of the events. They recently made to the grand finals of IEM Beijing. Although they did not win, it was very impressive how they performed through the entire event. They showed great cohesion and were able to play off one another very well.

Due to this, we have to favor 100Thieves coming into this match. This match will be a bo1, which poses some risk. But we are confident enough in them to take this match rather convincingly.

fnatic vs EG

Fnatic will face off vs EG,both teams come into this lan being eliminated in the semis at ECS Season 8 finals, where Fnatic lost 2-1 vs Liquid and EG lost 2-1 vs Astralis. EG’s player Tarik has been mentioning in an interview that they have been attending to many Lans in a row resulting in a drop off in their performance. This has been shown at ECS by some messy halves ,looking disjointed and their strats have been looking drained by not having enough time between events to improve them and invent new ones.

Fnatic are going to give EG a run for their money as they have been on the grind to the top ever since the major.

Astralis vs GH

Like at the ECS finals, with Astralis playing Grayhound they again are involved in the most onesided match of the first round.

Astralis struggled on Nuke, a map which they historically have been dominant on, with a close win against Sharks and loss against EG. Besides those two close maps Astralis has been looking dominant as usual (note that we are recording this episode before the ECS grand finals against Liquid).

Grayhound won the OMEN Challenger series a few weeks ago, an Asian lan where they did not play proper opponents so it doesn't say a lot about their form, other than that we didn't see them play internationally since DH Malmö in the beginning of october. There however they eliminated Liquid and took a map off Mousesports, overall very respectable results. It’s going to be like always with GH, we are not sure what to expect from them since they play in the Oceanic region most of the time. As in the ECS finals with Sharks in their opening match against Astralis we most likely won’t bet on that match as we expect Astralis to win this rather convincingly, but hope to gain some insight in Grayhounds form going into the tournament.

G2 vs Sharks

On paper, our next match (g2 versus sharks) might look like a very one sided affair. The Frenchmen have been steadily climbing the ranks since the addition of nexa and hunter and have even been in the top 10 for the 2nd half of 2019. But sharks also have two new players to show - meyern and luken could more than convince at the ECS Finals last weekend where they brought Astralis to overtime on nuke.

Considering its a best-of-one and that after banning dust2 we will most likely see a decent map for sharks (train, vertigo or nuke) we recommend betting at the Brazilians for at least 3.3 odds.

mouz vs ATK

Coming into this match, we have Mouz facing off the relatively unknown team ATK. Mouz is a very solid EU mix that are currently #8 in the HLTV rankings. They have a very solid roster with some great talent. The main star of the show is Woxic, a very fast awper which has been very clutch for Mouz as of late. The have some young guns to back him up as well, with ropz and frozen to provide a lot of firepower when woxic fails to sweep the server.

ATK on the other hand, is a rather weak team. They have been winning some games in NA, but the opponents are nowhere near the level of the teams attending ESL Pro League. We don’t have much hope for them in this match either, considering the disparity in skill and experience. This should be a sweep for Mouz if they perform like they have been doing. The odds however are pretty accurate for this match, and since it’s a BO1, we would recommend skipping this match.

North vs Liquid

North have been on the decline ever since their starplayer Valde left the team. Their firepower is very inconsistent and this shows in their recent results. They have been struggling online vs much lesser opposition shown by almost losing to some random danish pug (Maquinas) in the WESG North Europe qual. As for Liquid they just finished 2. at the ECS where they have shown a decent performance in skill after their drop off at the Major in Berlin where they ended in 5.-8th place. In all honesty Liquid should wipe the floor with North as their mappool should greatly outskill North’s , but we have to remember it's still a bo1 and if the stars align the inconsistent firepower of North could give Liquid some trouble.
